Instructions for installing Turbo C

by Lokesh

Just follow the below steps for a hassle-free installation:

  1. Copy the turboc.exe file from your floppy disk to any temporary location on your hard-drive, preferably on the drive where you have your Windows installed. The program (turboc.exe) can be deleted once the installation is complete. We assume the folder to be C:\My Documents

  2. Run the program from the hard disk i.e. from C:\My Documents folder.

  3. You will get the following prompt. Just press OK.

  4. On pressing OK, the Winzip Self-Extractor file will automatically extract it's contents to your C:\Windows\Temp folder, and then launch the installation program. Once the installation program is complete, the program will delete all the temporary files, so no hassles for you. The Winzip Self Extractor window looks like this during installation, remember to not do anything in this window.

  5. An MS-DOS window will now open up. Just press Enter to continue.

  6. When asked to select the source drive, select C: (the drive where your Windows is installed)

  7. At the next screen, you will already get a path as shown. Don't make any changes to this, just press enter.

  8. At the next screen, select 'Install Turbo C on a hard drive'

  9. At the next screen, you can choose where the installation should take place. It is recommended that you leave everything as it is. Just scroll down to the 'start installation' option and press Enter

  10. The installation should now begin, and at the end, you should get a screen like this...

Just ignore all the instructions shown. They are of no use. Your installation is now complete. Just press any button and the program will close.

  11. Turbo C is now installed in your C:\TC folder. You can place a shortcut to tc.exe on your desktop.

  12. NOTE: When you start C, you must press Enter, and then Esc to start working with C.
